이영국 교수의 상변태 연구실(PTL)은 연세대 신소재공학부 소속으로, 차세대 자동차용 고망간강과 초고강도 강판을 연구한다. 차체 경량화·안전성을 위한 고망간 TWIP강을 국내 기업과 공동 개발해 자동차에 적용했으며, AI 기반 합금 설계와 초연성·제진 합금을 다룬다. 2020년 한국공학상 대통령상을 수상했다.
