구조설계 연구실(SD Lab)을 이끌며 교량·건물의 해석과 설계, 구조 최적화, 콘크리트 구조의 시간의존 거동을 연구한다. 1996년부터 KAIST에 재직하며 구조 설계 분야의 이론과 응용 연구를 수행해 왔다.
