유기화학, 생화학, 재료과학, 나노기술 분야를 연구한다. 합성 펩타이드(폴다머)를 이용한 삼차원 자기조립 구조인 '폴덱처(foldecture)'를 개발하며, 거울상 이성질체를 구분할 수 있는 키랄 금속-펩타이드 네트워크를 합성한다. 생체친화적 합성 아미노산과 탄수화물로부터 센싱 및 약물 전달용 올리고머를 제조하는 비대칭 유기합성 연구도 수행한다.
