구조생물학을 기반으로 생체분자의 작동 메커니즘과 미생물 상호작용을 연구한다. 저온전자현미경(cryo-EM)과 X선 결정학을 활용하여 원핵·진핵 생물의 전사(RNA 합성)와 유전자 조절 원리를 규명한다. 또한 진핵생물과 원핵생물 간 상호작용 등 마이크로바이옴 연구를 수행한다.
