유기·무기 합성과 재료과학을 아우르며 지속가능한 촉매화학을 연구한다. 불균일 촉매, 광촉매, 빅데이터 기반 비대칭 촉매 등을 다룬다. 신약 개발을 위한 지속가능한 유기합성, 함질소·함산소 환형 화합물의 골격 편집, 지구상 풍부한 전이금속을 활용한 광촉매 반응을 대표 연구 주제로 한다.
