유기촉매와 전이금속 촉매를 개발하는 입체선택적 촉매 연구를 수행한다. 계산유기화학과 분자인식을 활용해 새로운 촉매 설계 방법을 찾고 반응의 선택성과 반응성을 예측한다. 의약품용 키랄 화합물 합성을 위한 고선택성 촉매와 산업 응용이 가능한 실용적 촉매·시약을 개발하는 녹색화학을 지향한다.
