남정석 교수 연구실(암생물학 연구실)은 GIST 생명과학부 소속으로, 암 사망의 주요 원인인 암 전이를 제어할 수 있는 기전을 연구한다. 암줄기세포 표적 유전자를 발굴하고 암세포가 줄기세포 형질을 획득하는 기전을 규명하며, 아바타 마우스 등 다양한 동물모델을 활용해 방사선·항암제 내성 관련 표적과 약물 재창출 기반 치료전략을 탐구한다.
