KAIST 전기및전자공학부 교수로 집적유기전자소자 연구실(Integrated Organic Electronics Lab, IOEL)을 이끈다. 유기 및 차세대 반도체 기반의 새로운 소자 구조와 공정을 디스플레이·조명, 에너지, 플렉서블 전자소자 분야에서 연구하며, 유기 박막 태양전지·유기 트랜지스터·OLED가 핵심 주제다. 최근 세계 최고 수준 효율의 딥블루 OLED, 광손실을 줄이는 근평면 광추출 구조, 광치료용 OLED 카테터 등을 발표했다.
