KAIST 전산학부 교수로 Computer Graphics and Visualization Lab을 이끌며 의료 영상 분석, 상호작용 기술, 시뮬레이션·시각화를 연구한다. 영상 생성·변환, 형상 모델링, 영상 분할 등 의료 영상 알고리즘과 확장현실에서의 햅틱 피드백·실시간 물리 시뮬레이션을 다룬다. 펜실베이니아대에서 박사학위를 받았다.
