비선형 분산형 편미분방정식(nonlinear dispersive PDE)을 연구하는 해석학 전공 교수다. 비선형 슈뢰딩거 방정식과 Dirac–Klein–Gordon 계의 적분가능성·산란(scattering) 이론, 이산 슈뢰딩거 방정식의 연속체 극한 및 Strichartz 추정 등을 조화해석 기법을 활용해 다룬다.
