편미분방정식과 변분법(Calculus of Variations)을 전공한다. 타원형·포물형 문제의 정칙성 이론(regularity theory), 완전 비선형 방정식, 이중위상(double phase)·장애물(obstacle) 문제, Orlicz·Musielak-Orlicz 함수공간을 연구한다. 수리금융에서 나타나는 변분부등식 등 응용수학에도 관심을 둔다.
