응용수학을 전공하며 행렬해석, 수치선형대수, 대규모 데이터 분석을 연구한다. 기계학습, 데이터마이닝, 통신 등으로의 응용을 다룬다. 경북대 비선형 동역학 및 수학응용연구센터(NDMAC) 부센터장을 맡고 있다.
