조창우 교수는 응집물질물리 실험, 특히 양자물질과 초전도 연구를 수행한다. 극저온·고자기장 환경에서 자화율 및 자기토크 측정을 통해 초전도체 NbSe2에서 orbital 효과와 Ising 스핀-궤도 결합에 기인한 새로운 형태의 orbital FFLO 상태를 세계 최초로 관측했으며, 1저자 및 교신저자로 Nature Communications에 게재했다.
