이형술 교수 연구실은 KENTECH 에너지공학부(Environmental and Climate Technology) 소속으로, 순환경제를 위한 바이오연료·바이오화학을 연구한다. 물-에너지 넥서스, 탄소중립 순환경제, 음식물쓰레기 자원화, 그린수소·재생천연가스 생산, 생분해성 플라스틱, 탄소포집을 다루며, 교수는 애리조나주립대 바이오디자인연구소 박사로 워털루대 교수를 역임했다.
