KAIST 전산학부 교수로 SPIRAL(Software Process Improvement and Reliability Assurance) 연구실을 이끈다. 소프트웨어 프로세스 모델링, 소프트웨어 경제성, 신뢰성 공학, 결함 예측 등을 연구한다. 남캘리포니아대(USC)에서 박사학위를 받았고 모토로라 선임연구원을 지냈다.
