최재식 교수가 이끄는 SAIL(Statistical Artificial Intelligence Lab)은 KAIST 김재철AI대학원 소속으로, 인공지능·머신러닝과 설명가능 인공지능(XAI)을 중점 연구한다. AI 모델의 의사결정을 해석 가능하게 만드는 특성 기여도(feature attribution) 기법과 생성모델, 확산 기반 계획 등으로 연구를 확장하고 있다.
