Mechanical Intelligence Robotic Research Laboratory는 생물에서 영감을 받은 새로운 재료·구조·기구 메커니즘(Mechanical Intelligence)의 개발과 해석을 통해 로봇 설계 및 제조에 응용한다. 기존 기계 시스템의 크기·효율 한계를 넘어 초소형 로봇과 웨어러블 디바이스를 위한 새로운 솔루션을 제시하며, 곤충 모사 로봇·마이크로 임펄스 시스템·소프트 마이크로 로봇 등의 성과를 Science 등에 발표해 왔다.
