윤병동 교수는 서울대학교 기계공학부 소속으로 신뢰성 기반 설계 최적화(RBDO), 고장 예지 및 건전성 관리(PHM), 통계적 모델 검증, 에너지 하베스팅을 연구한다. Hyperautonomy Artificial Intelligence Lab(HAI LAB)을 이끌며 제조 및 자율 시스템에 대한 AI 응용을 다룬다. 연구는 지능형 계측, 시스템 모델링, 의사결정의 세 축으로 구성된다. 잔존 수명 예측, 기계 시스템 고장 진단, 예측 정비 알고리즘, 배터리 열화 예측, 이상 탐지 등의 성과가 있다.
