부산대학교 기계공학부 에너지시스템 전공 교수로 연소공학 분야를 연구한다. 화력발전에너지분석기술센터장을 역임하며 연료의 물리·화학적 연소 특성 분석과 DB 공유 인프라 구축, 차세대 발전 기술 개발을 수행하였다. 발전 및 연소공학 대학원 협동 과정 운영 등 산학 연계 연구를 이어가고 있다.
