이석영 언더우드 특훈교수의 연구그룹(GEM)은 연세대 천문우주학과 소속으로, 은하의 형성과 진화를 연구한다. NewHorizon, YZiCS 등 우주론적 유체역학 줌인 시뮬레이션을 활용해 은하단 환경에서의 은하 quenching, 별 형성과 항성 피드백 모델링을 관측과 함께 연구한다.
