김영근 교수 연구실은 UNIST 수리과학과 소속으로, 표현 학습(representation learning)을 위한 통계적 방법론을 연구한다. 식별 가능한 표현 학습, 와서스타인 생성자·변분 오토인코더 등 생성 모델을 다루며, 기능적 MRI 등 뇌영상 분석과 정밀 정신의학에 응용해 자폐·강박장애의 잠재 바이오마커를 탐색한다. 이론적으로 근거 있고 해석 가능한 AI를 지향한다.
