양자빔공학 연구실을 운영하며, 전자·양성자·양전자 등 하전입자와 THz에서 감마선에 이르는 광자를 빔 형태로 발생·이용하는 연구를 수행한다. 새로운 하전입자빔 발생장치를 개발하여 나노기술·재료·환경·바이오 및 기초연구에 응용하며, 자체 개발한 초소형 X-선 발생장치를 암 진단·치료에 적용하는 연구를 진행하였다.
