방사선 재료 및 나노역학 연구실(RNL)을 이끌며, 금속·반도체·세라믹 등 고체 재료가 이온·중성자·양성자·전자·광자 등 고에너지 입자와 충돌할 때 일어나는 원자 및 미세구조 단위 현상을 연구한다. 내방사선 특성을 갖는 재료를 개발하고, 나노역학 기본원리를 바탕으로 우수한 기계적·전기적·광학적 특성을 지닌 신소재를 탐구한다.
