환경미생물학을 연구하는 연구실로, 질소 순환에 핵심적 역할을 하는 미생물의 배양·유전체·생리학적 특성을 규명합니다. 산성 환경에 적응한 신종 아질산염 산화 세균(NOB)을 세계 최초로 배양해 'Candidatus Nitrospira acidotolerans'로 명명하고 그 생존 전략을 밝혀 미국미생물학회 학술지에 발표했습니다.
