부산대학교 기계공학부 제어자동화시스템 전공 교수로 메카트로 지능화 연구실(Mechatro Intelligence Laboratory)을 운영한다. 수소연료전지차용 초고압 수소밸브 구동기, CNC 공작기계의 지능화 생산, 와전류 응용 센서, 의료기기 분야를 연구한다. 메카트로닉스와 센서·구동기 기술을 산업 및 의료 응용으로 확장하는 데 중점을 둔다.
