이범석 교수 연구실은 경희대 화학공학과 소속으로, 공정시스템공학(PSE)을 연구한다. 화학공정의 설계·최적화·제어·운전과 더불어 공정 안전, 에너지, 기후변화 대응을 다루며, 수성 암모니아 CO2 포집 공정 등을 연구했다. 이범석 교수는 Purdue University에서 공정제어로 박사학위를 받았다.
