식물의 광합성을 모사하는 인공광합성 연구를 수행한다. KIST와 공동으로 이산화탄소를 포름산 등 유용 물질로 전환하는 연구 성과를 Nature Communications에 발표하였으며, 펩타이드를 이용해 거울 대칭(키랄) 구조의 금 나노입자를 세계 최초로 합성하는 등 바이오미네랄리제이션 기반 신소재를 개발한다.
