금속 성형, 전산소성학, 재료역학을 연구하는 재료역학 연구실을 이끈다. 첨단 구조재료의 유한요소 모델링, 복잡한 변형 경로 변화 하에서의 변형 기구 규명을 위한 멀티스케일 모델링·실험을 수행하며, 판재 성형에서의 소성 이방성과 항복 거동을 정밀하게 모델링한다. 2014년 International Journal of Plasticity Award를 수상하였다.
