위상수학 전공으로 저차원 위상수학(Low-dimensional Topology), 매듭 이론(Knot Theory), 기하적 위상수학(Geometric Topology)을 연구한다. 히가드 분해(Heegaard splitting), 매듭의 브리지 위치, 핸들바디·디스크 복합체, 사상류군 등을 주제로 한 연구를 수행한다.
