전남대학교 수학과 교수로 함수해석학과 작용소 이론을 연구합니다. 실·복소 변수 함수론을 바탕으로 베르그만 공간, 하디 공간, 디리클레 공간 등 여러 함수공간 위의 퇴플리츠(Toeplitz)·한켈(Hankel) 작용소의 성질을 주로 다룹니다.
