매듭이론(knot theory)과 저차원 위상수학(low-dimensional topology)을 연구한다. 마크드 그래프 다이어그램의 채색 불변량, 곡면-매듭(surface-link)의 콴들 코사이클 불변량 등 매듭·곡면매듭의 불변량 이론을 다룬다.
