사물인터넷 표준 연구실을 운영하는 고석주 교수는 IoT 통신 프로토콜의 성능 개선과 국제 표준화를 연구한다. 최근에는 QUIC 프로토콜의 기능 개선과 성능 최적화, 차량 인포테인먼트 및 가시광 통신 등으로 연구 영역을 확장하고 있다.
