응용언어학과 TESOL(영어 교육)을 전공한다. 한국 내 원어민 영어교사의 '좋은 언어교사' 정체성, 언어 놀이를 통한 언어 인식, 영어 몰입 캠프에서의 세계시민성 비판 등을 연구해 Journal of Language, Identity, and Education 등에 발표했다. 뉴욕주립대 버펄로에서 외국어·제2언어 교육 박사학위를 받았다.
