자연모사재료연구실(Bioinspired Materials Lab)을 운영하며 자연계 생명체가 활용하는 기능성 도구의 작동 기작을 규명하고 그 원리를 모사한 기능성 생체재료를 개발한다. 주요 연구 주제는 약물 전달체, 바이오프린팅, 기능성 접착·코팅 소재 등이며 친환경 난연 코팅제 등 응용 연구도 수행한다.
