김현정 교수 연구실은 서강대 물리학과 소속으로, X-선 회절과 초고속 분광법을 이용해 응집물질의 구조와 동역학을 연구한다. PAL-XFEL 같은 X-선 자유전자레이저를 활용해 들뜬 전자에 의한 결정 격자의 움직임을 펨토초 단위로 측정하며, 3차원 X-선 이미징 기술도 개발한다.
